Description
This course is designed to provide an overview of the field of health equity, including the origins and context in which health inequities occur. It will provide a broad overview of the social determinants of health and health disparities in the United States. The course will examine relevant historical issues, theories, and empirical data, emphasizing critical analysis and application of knowledge. Students will examine individual, community, and policy level approaches to reducing health disparities and gain a better understanding of culturally specific interventions to promote health equity. Prerequisite: PBH 111
