Welcome to Dillard University Veterans and Veteran’s Dependents, we would like to thank you for your service to our country!!! This page is designed to assist you with you Veteran Affairs as you matriculate at Dillard University.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us our stop our office.  Once again thank you for your service and thank you for choosing Dillard University!

Please follow these steps after being admitted to Dillard University:

  1. Complete the online GI Bill application.
  2. Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see if you qualify for additional student aid.  Check with the office of Financial Aid and Scholarships for aid eligibility.
  3. Once you have received the “Certificate of Eligibility” letter from the VA, submit it to the office Records and Registration.
  4. Register for your courses.
  5. As soon as you register for courses, be sure to complete and submit your “Veteran Certification Request.  The Dillard University Request for Certification Form can also be submitted in person to our office, or scanned and emailed to rvmitchell@dillard.edu
  6. Veteran education benefits are certified on a semester basis – be sure to complete the Dillard University Request for Certification Form each semester.

Note: If you have used VA education benefits previously at another university, you must complete VA Form 22-1995 (Request for Change of Program or Place of Training) through VONAPP (Veterans Online Application).

Canvas LMS

DEAL courses use Canvas to deliver course content, as a communication and collaboration platform and for authentic assessments, including assignments, discussions, projects, portfolios, quizzes and tests.  DEAL instructors may also choose to use VoiceThread, Respondus LockDown Browser + Monitor, Unplag plagiarism detector application and 100s of other apps and tools that fully integrate with Canvas LMS.

Students, your password is the first two letters of your first name in lowercase immediately followed by your id number.  CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD in YOUR PROFILE!

Student Readiness for eLearning: Distance Education for Authentic Learning

Are you ready for eLearning?  Students should determine if they are ready to succeed in a hybrid or online course. 

Take these quick self assessments: The Student Online Readiness Tool will help you discover if online learning is right for you. The Skills for Effective Online Learning Self Assessment can help you determine if you have the skills you need to be an online learner.  The DEAL Readiness Tool will help you determine if you have the technology access, skills, and self-motivation to succeed in an online or hybrid course.

Student Readiness: Blackboard Learn LMS

LMS 101  -  passing LMS 101 is a prerequisite for DEAL courses.

Prior to Spring 2017, students who wished to enroll in DEAL courses had to show their competence and familiarity with basic technical skills and our Blackboard Learn LMS by earning a DUSD-BbL-101-001: Blackboard Learn Onboarding and Student Readiness for eLearning Course mini course completion certificate and uploading it on the first day of the semester to their DEAL instrutor.   EAL  

Beginning 15 December 2016, new DU students and returning students, who wish to enroll in DEAL courses and HAVE NOT ALREADY EARNED THEIR DUSD-BbL-101-001, will have to earn their LMS 101 completion badge in Canvas LMS.  The mini course is available 24hr x 7wk x 365 days a year.

To obtain costs of textbooks for registered classes for the semester, students can use their myDU login credentials to log in to Book Now by selecting this link. Once logged in, scroll down to the bottom of your schedule and select "Purchase Books at the Bookstore" to enter the site.
 
Students with a book voucher on their Dillard University ID card can purchase their books online with their ID card. Visit the Bursar Office in Rosenwald Hall, room 106 for more information. 
 

How to Access My Dillard University Student Email

All student email addresses has moved from FirstName.LastName@Students.Dillard.edu and has become FirstName.LastName@Dillard.edu.  

Your password is the same password used to log on to all computers on campus.

Log on your account using “FirstName.LastName” only.
