Description

This Special Topics in Biology course, Urgent Environmental Topics, will focus on a current topic in environmental biology that is especially urgent – one such example is global climate and environmental change. The aim of this special topics course is to give Dillard students the opportunity to stay abreast of the most important current issues and topics in environmental biology. This will include delving into the causes, environmental and ecosystem effects, current research, history of the field, and sociocultural responses to the topic. Emphasis will be placed on integrating ecology, physiology, behavior, human activities, and evolution to understand the most pressing environmental topics of the moment. Finally, the course will explore issues of human health, conservation and policy. Prerequisites: Bio 112 and Bio 112L.
