Description
The purpose of this course is to offer students of criminal justice and practitioners in the field a relatively complete and current overview of the issues surrounding cyber crime and cyber criminals. Students will explore the Internet’s role in the prepetration of cyber crime. Cyber crime and the threat it poses will be addressed. An overview of the criminal justice construct of “hacker†and other cyber criminal behavior will be analyzed. Students will become familiar with current state and federal cyber crime statutes and case law. This course also provides a comprehensive introduction to the complex issues surrounding terrorism and homeland security, perhaps the most pressing major issues facing criminal justice professionals in the 21st. century.
