Description

This course studies the legal practices in the music industry such as copyrights, licenses, and contracts and provides an understanding of copyright terminology that protects the authors and composers under copyright statue. Students will learn the basic conceptions of the legal principles related to those practices. The course will examine various legal aspects of the music industry such as record labels, music publishers, merchandisers and the live events of performers and artists. The course will explore the special character of art-related contractual applications such as misappropriations, fair use, and works for hire.
